Austin Museum Day — The Elisabet Ney Museum @ Laguna Gloria

  • The Contemporary Austin (Laguna Gloria) 3809 West 35th Street Austin, Texas, 78703 United States (map)

Discover the history of Laguna Gloria like never before! Journey back into the ecological and human histories that shaped this place in the new, self-guided audio tour Listening to the Land — Laguna Gloria. Encounter the many people to traversed this region, from early Texas socialites to industrious Mormon settlers, and Indigenous peoples. Slow down, learn local histories, and consider the interconnectedness of people and place.

From 12-3P, the historic Elisabet Ney Museum joins us to present interdisciplinary artist Virginia L. Montgomery's Breaking the Mold Art Crate, an educational learning experience designed by the Ney to explore art and nature through hands-on activities. Plus, enjoy a screening of Montgomery's surreal short films that investigate mysticism, science, and her own neurodivergent world. Observe moths from the UT Insect Collection, and try your hand at plein air watercolor postcard painting.
